Golwarpatti Reservoir was constructed at the confluence point of Rivers Arjunanadhi and Gowsighanadhi near Golwarpatti village in Sattur Taluk of Virudhunagar District. These rivers then confluence with Vaippar River. The Arjunanadhi originates from the Surplus of Watrap big tank and Gowsighanadhi originates in Peraiyur taluk of Madurai district. The total length of Arjuna nadhi is 73.2 kms and Gowsighanadhi is 46.3 kms.
By this reservoir Virudhunagar District is benefitted. Virudhunagar taluk is benefitted by this reservoir.
The construction of the dam was commenced during 1983 and completed during 1991. The reservoir was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Selvi.J.Jayalalithaa on 31.07.1991. The first release of water was on 09.11.1993.
