About Thunacadavu Dam

The Thunacadavu dam is constructed across Thuncadavu river which is a tributary of Parambikulam river. The Peruvaripallam dam is connected to Thunacadavu dam through a open cut channel of 571.50m length. The Thunacadavu and Peruvaripallam Dams are twin dams and interconnected to each other. Both these dams are Known as balancing reservoir and they both maintain same FRL level at EL 535.5m in order to give a constant head for power generation. The Thunacadavu dam diverts the water to Coimbatore district through Sarkarpathy lined tunnel.

By this reservoir Coimbatore and Tiruppur Districts are benefitted. Sulur, Tiruppur, Dharapuram, Kinathukadavu, pollachi Udumalpet and Palladam taluks are benefitted by this reservoir.

The construction of Thunacadavu dam was started during 1963 and completed during 1965.
