Andiappanur odai dam was constructed across Andiyappanur Odai and Periyar odai near Andiyappanur Village, Vaniyambadi Taluk of Vellore District which is a water starved District. Especially Vaniyambadi is a dry land region only depends on agricultural. These odais are originating in the Jawadhu Hills and confluences with Pambar, which in turn confluences with Pennaiyar River.
This dam benefits Vellore District. Vaniyambadi and Thirupathur Taluks are benefited by this reservoir.
The construction of dam was started by laying foundation stone by the then Hon’ble Minister for Public Works Thiru.Duraimurugan on 17.02.1997 and completed in the year 2007. The dam was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development and Panchayatraj Department Thiru.M.K.Stallin on 05.06.2007. The first water release was on 06.06.2007.
