The Marudhanadhi Reservoir was constructed across Marudhanadhi river near Ayyampalayam village of Athoor Taluk in Dindigul District. Marudhanadhi River is a tributary of Vaigai River.
By this reservoir Theni District is benefitted. Periyakulam taluk is benefitted by this reservoir.
The construction of the dam was commenced during 1972 and completed by 1979. The first water release was done by the then Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture on 05.11.1979.
