The Nambiyar Reservoir was constructed across Nambiyar river near Kottaikarunkulam village of Radhapuram Taluk in Tirunelveli District. The Nambiyar River Originates from the eastern slopes of western ghats in the Kalakadu reserve forest area and it confluences with the Bay of Bengal in the Gulf of mannar. The construction of the dam was commenced during 1988 and completed by 2004 and inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Selvi.J.Jayalalithaa. The first water release was done during December 2004.
