About Nanganjiar Dam

The Nanganjiar Dam is constructed across Nanganjiar river which originates in Western Ghat Hills and confluences with Amaravathi River in Viruppachi village in Aravakurichi Taluk. The Amaravathi river is a major tributary of Cauvery. Total length of Nanganjiar is 32 kms.

By this reservoir Dindigul and Karur Districts are benefitted. Oddanchatram and Aravakurichi taluks are benefitted by this reservoir.

The Foundation stone for the construction of this reservoir was laid by the then Hon’ble Minister for Public Works and Law & Order Thiru. Duraimurugan on 26.07.1990 and the construction was completed in the year 2005. The reservoir was first opened for irrigation by the then Hon’ble Minister for Public Works and Law & Order Thiru. Duraimurugan on 06.04.2008.
