About Noyyal Orathupalayam

The Noyyal Orathupalayam Dam is constructed across Noyyal river near Orathupalayam village which is a tributary of the Cauvery that originates in the Velliangiri hills in the western part of Tamil Nadu and confluences with Cauvery River. Total length of Noyyal river is 179 kms.

By this reservoir Erode District is benefitted. Kangeyam taluk is benefitted by this reservoir.

The construction of dam was started in the year 1984 and completed in the year 1992. The reservoir was first opened for irrigation by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Selvi.J.Jayalalithaa on 22.01.1992.
