Pechipparai Dam is built across Kodayar river about a mile below the confluence of three tributaries called Kallar, Sullar and Kuttiar at Pechipparai.
By this reservoir Kanyakumari District is benefitted. Thovala, Agastheeswaram, Kalkulam and Vilavankode taluks are benefitted by this reservoir.
The construction of dam to Kodayar irrigation Project was initiated in 1897 and completed by 1906 during the reign of His Highness Sri Ramavarma Srimadam Thirunal Maharaja of Travancore.
