The Rajathopu Kanar dam is constructed during 1991-1997 across Rajathopu Kanar near Chenji village in Katpadi Taluk of Vellore District.
The Rajathopu Kanar originates on the Chittapara Village in Andhrapradesh to a distance of 1 Km and enters in Tamil Nadu at Rajathopu Village then traverse a distance of 9Km and flow into Dharapadavedu Tank in Katpadi Taluk of Vellore District
Total command area of the dam is 220.83 ha (545.44acres) lying in K.V.Kuppam Block and katpadi Block in Katpadi Taluk of Vellore District. This dam benefits Vellore District. Katpadi Taluk is benefited by this dam.
This foundation stone of the dam was laid by the then Madras Corporation Mayor Thiru. S. Sathyamurthy in 1940 and completed on 14.06.1944.
