The Sasthakoil Reservoir was constructed across the Nagariar River near North Devathanam village in Rajapalayam Taluk of Virudhunagar District. The Nagariar River originates at the foothills of the Western Ghats near Sasthakoil village and later merges with the Deviar River, which eventually confluences with the Vaippar River. The total length of the Nagariar River is 24 kilometers.
This reservoir benefits Virudhunagar District, specifically the Rajapalayam Taluk. The construction of the dam began in 2000 and was completed by 2004. The reservoir was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Minister for Public Works, Thiru. Duraimurugan, with the first water release occurring in 2004.
