The Shoolagirichinnar Dam is constructed across Chinnar river near Shoolagiri village in Hosur Taluk of Krishnagiri District. River Chinnar orginates from Berigai Village in Hosur Taluk of Krishnagiri District. It is one of the major tributary in Pennaiyar River. Total length of Chinnar river is 14kms.
Shoolagiri Chinnar dam is constructed o bring an extent of 871 acres of dry crop cultivation. This 871 acres of dry lands lies in three villages named Marandapalli, Shoolagiri and Chennapalli in Shoolagiri Block of Hosur Taluk of Krishnagiri District. There are no major tributary to the river Chinnar. The Reservior can be reached through a metaled road of 5 km from Shoolagiri.
This reservoir benefits Dharmapuri District. Hosur Taluk is benefited by this reservoir.
The Kesarigulihalla dam works were commenced in the year 1981 and completed during 1984.
