The Vattamalaikarai odai Dam is constructed across Vattamalaikarai odai at Uthamapalayam village in Kangeyam Taluk of Tirupur District. Nelalikarai otherwise known as Vattamalaikarai odai runs across the P.A.P Ayacut drains and receives good portion of flow from it starting near Anupatti village on Palladam – Pollachi road and confluences with Amaravathi River. Total length of Vattamalaikarai odai is 60 Kms.

The construction of Vattamalaikarai odai dam was started during 1974 and completed during 1979.
