Kelavarapalli Dam was constructed across Pennaiyar River near Kelavarapalli village in Hosur Taluk of Krishnagiri District. The Pennaiyar River originates on the south eastern slopes of Chennakesava Hills, North West of Nandidurg in Karnataka State. The total length of Pennaiyar River is 432 Kms of which 112 Kms lie in Karnataka State and remaining 320kms in Tamil Nadu.
This dam benefits Dharmapuri District. Hosur taluk is benefitted by this reservoir.
6 M.G.D. (27.27MLD) of water is supplied from the Reservoir for drinking water to Hosur SIPCOT, Hosur Town, Mathigiri and other way side villages.
The dam works were commenced on 1977 and completed on 1995. The first release of water was on 03.11.2004.
