Varattar Dam is constructed across Varattar river near Vallimadurai Village in Harur Taluk of Dharmapuri District. Varattar river originates from Chitteri Hills in Thumbakkal Village. Varattar River is a tributary of Pennaiyar River.

The dam has one head sluice and its irrigated ayacut of 5108 acres. There are 25 tanks benefits under this scheme. For fast five years the ayacut under this scheme fully irrigated.

This dam benefits Dharmapuri District. Harur Taluk is benefited by this dam.

The dam works were commenced during 2001 and completed in the year 2006. The reservoir was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Minister for Public Works of Tamil Nadu Thiru.Duraimurugan.
